In this tape, Professor Florendo Visitacion and Shihan David James take up where they left off in the previous tape by demonstrating various "dimensions" of the stick, such as cupping and butting, versus the 5 basic angles of attack. Footwork, hand coordination, target acquisition, and high/low attacks are also examined. Shihan James also does a similar routine using the knife, pointing out the similarities between the knife and the stick.
In addition, Shihan James defends himself in various situations such as back-grabs, front chokes, and hook punches. He shows the entire Vee Arnis Jitsu system at work, including touch and go striking, changing opponent's focus, and finishing holds. This tape deals exclusively with edged weapon defense from an empty hand perspective, a commonly encountered and extremely dangerous street situation. In the words of Shihan James, "If anyone tells you that you are going to defend yourself against a knife and not get cut, then that man does not know what he is talking about." But with proper training and technique, you do have the ability to determine where you will take that cut.
Knife defense is presented in a logical and progressive series of drills, including footwork, circular motion, blocking drills, against the wall, low-line kicking, touch-and-go striking, and sensitivity exercises. The completion of this tape will leave the viewer with an effective program of training to defend against an edged weapon assault, not just a disjoined series of knife defense techniques. The drills are hard work, but as Shihan James stresses, "There is no such thing as effortless self defense."
